Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is expanding its Frailty and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service, creating exciting new therapy opportunities

 

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and motivated Occupational Therapist to join us as a senior clinician. You will work closely with our Team Leads and Clinical Specialists to deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care and to help shape the development of the Front Door Therapy Services across a range of areas including:

·  Emergency Department

·  Acute Medical Unit

·  Surgical Assessment Unit

·  Ambulatory Emergency Care

·  Clinical Decisions Unit

·  Same Day Emergency Care Unit

Main duties of the job

Our department operates an integrated therapy service, where OTs and Physiotherapists work alongside each other in each of the clinical areas. The culture of multi-disciplinary working is well established and respected within the hospital.

The Therapy department is committed to providing an environment of excellent professional growth and offers daily team huddles and regular departmental meetings; ensuring effective communication within the teams. We incorporate CPD time, regular performance reviews and service development projects. Supervision is highly regarded within the department as a method of ensuring all staff are supported in their professional development and career progression.

Working for our organisation

We provide emergency and non-emergency services to the residents of East Surrey, North-East West Sussex, and South Croydon, including the major towns of Crawley, Horsham, Reigate and Redhill; a community of over 535,000 people. We provide acute and complex services and a range of outpatient, diagnostic services whilst Crawley Hospital and Horsham in West Sussex and Caterham Dene Hospital and Oxted Health Centre in Surrey provide less complex planned services.

As such, all nursing, clinical, and operational roles may involve working on a 24/7 shift basis, unless otherwise specified during the recruitment process. Successful candidates will be appointed to the first pay step within the band when they start with the Trust (unless they have previous relevant NHS continuous service), thereafter individuals will progress up the pay steps in accordance with NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) terms and conditions. For part time roles you will receive a pro rata’d (proportional) salary payment based on the appropriate pay step/point and hours worked in accordance with AfC and all medical and dental terms and conditions.
