Each day will be different, and the main focus of your role is to provide daily support to adults in our residential services. It’s definitely not a normal 9-5, you can work days, nights, and flexible shifts too. Talking of ‘dream’ jobs, some of our shifts are sleep-ins!
Key Responsibilities
As a Support Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred support that promotes independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for the people we support.
Key duties include:
- Delivering person-centred support in line with individual care plans, risk assessments, and support needs.
- Promoting independence, choice, dignity, and inclusion in daily life.
- Supporting individuals with personal care, medication, health appointments, and wellbeing activities where required.
- Assisting people to develop life skills, access education, employment, volunteering, and community opportunities.
- Encouraging social participation, hobbies, and positive relationships.
- Following Positive Behaviour Support plans and responding to challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
- Safeguarding individuals by recognising and reporting concerns in line with policies and procedures.
- Supporting household tasks, meal preparation, budgeting, shopping, and maintaining a safe and welcoming home environment.
- Keeping accurate records, including daily notes, incident reports, health information, and financial records.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.
- Following all health and safety, regulatory, and organisational policies and contributing to continuous service improvement.
- Attending training and participating in ongoing professional development.
Flexibility is essential, as the role may involve evenings, weekends, bank holidays, sleep-ins, waking nights, and other shift patterns as required.
