The Role

This role is funded by the Wild About Inclusion National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) Project. This project provides Sussex Wildlife Trust (SWT) with a dedicated individual who will use their expertise and experience to project manage the Wild About Inclusion NLHF project and oversee the Trust-wide Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) action plan. This includes working across all Directorates to embed inclusive practice throughout the organisation. Working closely with managers, teams and colleagues, you will develop and implement practical approaches that support SWT to become a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organisation, in line with its strategic ambition for 2030. Drawing on your knowledge and experience of working in Sussex, you will lead and support engagement with diverse communities, enabling the co-creation and development of community engagement plans that strengthen relationships, widen participation, and help ensure that nature is valued and accessible to everyone.

The Person

Are you a passionate advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion? Can you embed inclusive practice into the core operations of Sussex Wildlife Trust (SWT) in a way that is meaningful and sustainable for the future? We are looking for a values driven person with the skills, experience, and insight to support inclusive change and collaboration across SWT. Knowledge of Sussex communities, and of the social, cultural and geographical factors that shape access, inclusion and participation across the county,would be valuable. Experience gained in similar communities and settings elsewhere is equally welcome, as local knowledge can be built over time. We are particularly interested in your experience of engaging effectively with diverse communities and of supporting co-creation approaches that recognise the different ways individuals and groups experience and connect with nature.
