Asset Support Manager – Depots – Go-Ahead House (East Croydon)
As Asset Support Manager – Depots, you’ll be GTR’s subject matter expert on Depot Access and the commercial, contractual, and operational interfaces with Network Rail, ORR, and other Train Operators. You’ll ensure GTR meets its obligations as Depot Facility Owner, protecting operational and commercial interests while driving efficiency and value across all depot access arrangements.
What You’ll Do

Fulfil all obligations as Depot Facility Owner (DFO) and minimise costs where GTR acts as a Beneficiary

Manage budgets for depot access expenditure and ancillary income (approx. £3m)

Evaluate and recover costs arising from Depot and Network Change proposals, safeguarding GTR’s commercial and operational position

Support the Asset & Business Planning Manager in disputes under the National Depot Access Conditions, including mediation, adjudication, and arbitration

Build and maintain strong relationships with Network Rail, ORR, and other key stakeholders to challenge costs and identify efficiencies

Lead on depot rent reviews and cost recovery where depot thresholds apply

Ensure GTR’s Depot Agreement for Lease obligations are met at Siemens-operated Thameslink depots

Manage Connection Agreements to protect operations and negotiate cost reductions at Control Period reviews

Provide commercial and contractual support to depot-based teams, including the Fleet Infrastructure Team
What You’ll Bring
Knowledge
-
Specialist knowledge of rail regulation, especially National Depot Access Conditions and Standard Depot Letting Conditions

Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience

Strong understanding of rail industry regulatory and contractual frameworks

In-depth expertise in Depot Annexes and access contractual provisions
-
Working knowledge of NEC contracts

Financial acumen with experience managing large budgets

Familiarity with the Industry Access Dispute Resolution Rules
Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication

Strong negotiation and analytical skills

Ability to interpret and apply complex contractual obligations

Proven commercial management in complex stakeholder environments

Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across teams and organisations
Experience

Proven experience with Depot Access Conditions

Hands-on experience working with Network Rail contractual and surveyor teams

Demonstrated understanding of rail regulatory regimes

Financial forecasting and budget management expertise

Proven success in achieving positive outcomes with Network Rail and Beneficiaries

Knowledge of Depot Annexes and Responsibility Tables
