Package: Technical Services grade 5 from £29588 to £34610 per annum. Subject to annual pay award.

Loughborough University’s renowned School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering (AACME)is seeking a Mechanical Workshop Technicianto join our team. What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Hands-on Support: You’ll provide essential technical expertise and guidance to students and researchers on a wide range of teaching and research projects. 
  • Workshop Operation: You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a variety of high-tech machinery, including conventional and CNC lathes, milling machines, and 3D printers. 
  • Maintenance & Innovation: You’ll perform routine maintenance and repairs on workshop equipment, ensuring our facilities remain at a world-class standard. Your input will also be vital in helping us adopt new technologies and improve our workshop capabilities.

 

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Experience: A proven track record as a tool maker/mechanical technician, ideally within an educational or research-driven environment. 
  • Technical Proficiency: You must have strong practical skills in both conventional and CNC machining. Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and a deep understanding of materials are highly desirable. 
  • A Passion for Learning and Teaching: We need someone who is patient, a great communicator, and genuinely enjoys helping others learn. You will be a key figure in our students’ educational journey.
