About Us

​​​​The position is based within the Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology at King’s College London, which is part of the School of Life Course and Population Sciences within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine. The department is dedicated to studying twins and other longitudinal cohorts to elucidate the genetic and environmental determinants of health and disease. Our comprehensive research portfolio includes studies and analyses of genetics, epigenetics, and the influence of environmental factors – such as lifestyle and diet – on complex diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular conditions, diabetes and osteoporosis. Additionally, the department explores the ageing process and the pivotal role of the microbiome in health, making significant contributions to the fields of genetic epidemiology and public health. The department also benefits from strong collaborative partnerships at KCL, and nationally and internationally, enhancing our research impact and reach.​ ​  

About the role

We are seeking an energetic and dynamic communicator with a passion for science communication and engagement. The research programme at the Department is expanding and we are looking for someone to lead on research communications and engagement across multiple new and existing studies. You will lead the development and delivery of external communications across the Department of Twin Research. The role will deliver inclusive strategies to engage underrepresented groups and enhance participant recruitment and experience, while also raising the profile of our resources, researchers and study findings with the public and scientific community.β€―

You will be a strong content creator with experience in multi-channel communication campaigns. You will design and deliver communications acrossβ€―press, newsletters and websites to events, videos and social media. The post also involves developing clear participant communications, supporting recruitment and retention, and helping shape public engagement activities.β€―

A key part of the role will be working closely with our Volunteer Advisory Panel (VAP) and through patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) activity, ensuring participant voices are represented and help guide our engagement strategies.β€―Β 
Alongside this, you’ll work with colleagues across King’s, NHS partners, advisory groups and community organisations to coordinate activities and build networks. You’ll also line manage the Communications and Engagement Officer and contribute to embedding good practice across the team.β€―

This is a full time maternity cover post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a ​fixed term​ contract for 31 December 2026 or until the return of the substantive post holder.
