Waste management – Shaping a Greener, More Sustainable Future

Waste Services is one of the most visible and valued services we deliver, and we need a sharp mind to help us manage it.

As our Finance and Data Lead, you will be at the core of a service that manages over 230,000 tonnes of waste a year, with an annual net revenue budget of £45m. These high-value contracts shape how waste is collected, treated, and reduced across Wiltshire. These services also have a significant and tangible role to play in helping tackle climate change and reduce carbon emissions.

You will lead on financial planning, forecasting, and performance reporting, making sure business decisions are backed by solid data and insight. You will need to spot trends, understand the impact of any changes in waste tonnage, and help us stay ahead of legislative shifts, and maximising new income opportunities.

You will work closely with senior leaders, providing advice that shapes strategy and policy. From analysing tonnage data to validating invoices and preparing reports for Cabinet, your work will have a real impact on the council, Wiltshire residents, and our shared environment.

This role suits someone with strong financial experience, excellent analytical skills, experience supporting and getting the most out of your team, and a clear, confident approach to communication. You will be working with colleagues across the council and external partners, so relationship-building is key.

Some evening and weekend work is part of the role, and PPE is required when visiting operational sites.

If you are ready to make a real impact in a service that matters to every resident in Wiltshire, we want to hear from you.
