Finance Assistant – Grantham
Key Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices daily, ensuring timely and accurate entries.
- Perform supplier statement reconciliation on a regular basis.
- Ensure timely payments to creditors and record them accurately.
- Conduct month-end creditor account reviews and reconciliations with the Finance Manager.
- Update Accrual and Prepayment schedules for review by the Finance Manager each month.
- Assist with order raising via the Purchase Ordering system.
- Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Provide information to support weekly and monthly management reports.
- Provide sales invoicing cover when the other Finance Assistant is on holiday.Â
- Offer ad-hoc finance support as directed by the Finance Manager.Â
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- AAT Level 2 or equivalent qualification in accounting or finance.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade C or above.
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.
- Basic knowledge of financial reporting and reconciliation
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Â
- Proactive problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.Â
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.Â
- Strong communication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.Â
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar finance or accounting role.Â
- Progress towards or completion of AAT Level 3/4 or similar qualifications.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Familiarity with ERP systemsÂ
- Knowledge of VAT regulations and compliance.Â
- Advanced Excel skills
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying process improvements.Â
- Adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Previous experience in a multi-site or group finance environment.Â
- Exposure to month-end and year-end financial processes.
