The Role: Assistant Sales Manager

Salary: £35,000 – £55,000

Location: Burnley

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 48 per week, 5 days, Monday to Sunday.

* Due to the nature of the role, we will require you to have held a driving licence for more than a year. Infrequent travel to other Motorpoint locations may be necessary*

Our Assistant Sales Managers are responsible for supporting and driving the performance of our sales team. They are key to driving business growth through sales, by coaching and motivating the team to deliver success. As an Assistant Sales Manager you will work alongside the Sales Manager to lead, engage and motivate the team to deliver high levels of customer service and profitability.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, commercially-minded leader of people. Developing individuals within our team is at the heart of what we do, from 1-1s, team meetings, development plans and teaching others to do the same.

You are accountable for your store’s sales performance, you will work closely with the multiple functions on-site to ensure targets are met, obstacles are overcome and customers are impressed with their purchase experience.

Our employees are at the heart of the business, your role is to lead, motivate, inspire, recognise, reward and challenge.

What will you be getting up to?

  • Lead daily team briefings to align focus and energise the team.
  • Monitor and review KPIs, implementing action plans to drive performance.
  • Support and coach team members through regular 1-1s and development plans.
  • Manage customer records and sales leads to maximise conversion and retention.
  • Act as a second face for customers, adding value and resolving any concerns.
  • Analyse sales trends and produce reports to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Plan and manage team resources, including rotas and annual leave.
  • Champion team recognition and celebrate success.
  • Enhance the team’s presence on social media to support brand visibility.
  • Contribute to long-term people and performance strategies.
  • Step up to lead the sales team in the absence of the Sales Manager.

What do we need from you?

  • Proven track record in a car sales environment or team leader experience in a fast paced retail environment.
  • An articulate and confident communicator with a positive attitude coupled with the ability to inspire others to achieve results.
  • Exceptional ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with people quickly.
  • Passionate and determined in approach.
  • Well organised with an analytical approach to problem solving.
