Role: Automation Chapter Lead
The Automation Chapter Lead plays a pivotal role in driving strategic technology leadership across automation platforms and capabilities. This role is responsible for shaping the automation vision, mentoring engineering teams, and ensuring excellence in delivery, with a strong focus on customer experience and operational efficiency.Â
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic direction of automation technologies and operating models.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Automation Architects, and SMEs to design customer-centric automation platforms.
- Engineer and build features that deliver customer value, setting standards and best practices across teams.
- Define and communicate technical vision and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Measure and improve team performance, mentoring colleagues and fostering engineering excellence.
- Develop and present business cases for platform upgrades to SLT, translating technical needs into business language.
- Maintain and manage the tech debt register, ensuring 20% of team capacity is allocated to resolving tech debt.
- Identify and mitigate risks throughout the design and development lifecycle.
- Lead cross-functional teams, promoting collaboration and alignment across disciplines.
- Assess team skill gaps and coordinate training/coaching to address development needs.
- Cultivate leadership within the team, ensuring succession planning and reducing single points of failure.
- Perform other duties as reasonably required by the role.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 15 years of experience in automation and software engineering.
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience in multicultural engineering environments.
- Expertise in automation platforms including:
- Dynamics 365 CE
- Azure PaaS
- .NET
- Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
- DocuSign and other automation tools.
- Strong background in Agile methodologies and software engineering best practices.
- Experience with Continuous Integration tools:Â Jira, Confluence, SonarQube, Azure DevOps.
- Excellent communication skills — clear, concise, and fluent in written and verbal English.
- High attention to detail, initiative, and a passion for quality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make informed decisions collaboratively.
- Degree in Computer Science or related field (strongly desirable but not essential).
