Nightshift Chemist – Paisley

Enva Specialist Scotland is one of the UK’s leading Resource Management and Recycling Companies, with a reputation for innovation and creativity.  An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nightshift Laboratory Chemist to join our team, based at our Paisley depot on a full-time, permanent basis. 


Reporting to the Technical Manager, the successful applicant will participate in the analysis of inward, in-process, and outward materials, help to develop new or improved solutions, and share responsibility for general maintenance and calibration of Laboratory equipment and reagents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out all Laboratory testing according to procedure
  • Carry out Laboratory calibrations according to procedures
  •  Develop new processes and improve existing techniques 
  • Help keep the Laboratory and equipment clean and tidy
  • Assist in carrying out Laboratory responsibilities in the plant 
  • Complete paperwork in a neat and tidy manner. 
  • To work on any technical R&D function as instructed by line management.
  • Any further ad hoc duties as instructed by line management.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Degree in Chemistry required
  • Experience of working within a laboratory desirable
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with ability to communicate at all levels 
  • Strong IT skills including use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • A genuine and visible H&S understanding 
  • Flexible approach to working
  • Self-motivated and resourceful  
  • Results orientated, with desire and tenacity to optimise performance 
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • High level of numeracy and literacy
