Overview

Sonia Friedman Productions is seeking applications for a full-time, experienced Deputy Head of Automation to work on the London production of The Book of Mormon.

The Deputy Head of Automation will work closely with the Head of Automation, Production Manager, Company Manager, Stage Manager, and creative team in establishing and executing the automation needs of the production both in rehearsal and performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To deputise for the HOD
  • To assist in the running of all pre-show and maintenance checks
  • To carry out the automaton show plot’s in a safe manner, ensuring the safety of performers and crew onstage and in the wings during both shows and rehearsals
  • To take responsibility for automation equipment as required and keep the head of department informed of any issues as they arise.
  • To assist with the procurement and maintenance of adequate stocks of consumables and spares.

Essential experience includes:

  • Previous automation experience on a large-scale West End production.
  • Excellent knowledge of TAIT Automation Systems.
  • Experience running deck plots and an understanding of stage etiquette.
  • An understanding and practical knowledge of the principles and safe working practices of theatre rigging, automation systems and set construction.

Job Location: West End London

Contract Type: Fixed term Contract, subject to two weeks’ notice by the Producer as per the SOLT/BECTU Agreement. 

Salary: Weekly rate as per SOLT/BECTU Agreement.

Weekly Hours: 6 day working weeks; 8 shows per week plus maintenance and understudy calls. 

Salary: In line with industry standards
