Data Engineer – Reading, Berkshire, RG1 8DB
Contract: Contract
Salary: £400- £500 per day
The Capex Data Engineer is responsible for the generation of data, annual planning, forecasting, reporting and analytics of Capex Data for the Group FP&A function. They will also provide insightful data analysis to the wider finance and business functions to enable decision-making and strategic analysis. This role will support the development of forecasting and analysis across the group, ensuring best practice processes are implemented to deliver improved insight and accountability.
What you’ll be doing as a Capex Data Engineer
- Deliver and provide insight into the Capex budgeting and formal forecast cycle, including rolling forecast and IBP (long-term business plan), including understanding of cost drivers and outcomes
- Deliver high-quality Capex reporting and analysis to support FP&A and FBP commentary on performance to assist decision-making and forecasting.
- Understand Capex performance and provide insights on overall position, including risks and opportunities
- Develop and deliver change in financial forecasting and analysis sis including systems upgrades and developments to achieve best practice analysis.
- Further develop and own the Capex rolling forecast and scenario planning processes.
- Drive continuous improvement with the finance team. Including (but not limited to) automation, efficiency, and standardisation. Also support any wider plans to upgrade or change financial systems.
- Embed accountability and responsibility for forecasting into the executive, leadership and the wider business.
- Support the development of forecasting and analysis across the group, ensuring best practice processes are implemented to deliver improved insight and accountability.

What you should bring to the role
The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role are
- Strong System experience with Access, SAP and ideally HFM
- Excellent analytical, Excel (including financial modelling) and data modelling skills
- Solid communication skills – able to articulate data well across a broad scope of stakeholders
- Some experience in the FP&A function with a proven track record in ‘adding value’
