Our History
As a leading UK life and pensions mutual insurer with a proud history dating back to 1843, we exist to help people live financially confident lives – protecting their income while they work and maximising it when they stop.
Today, over one million members and customers trust us to look after their futures, families and finances. We put them at the heart of everything we do.
Our Values
Our four company values are an intrinsic part of who we are, how we do business and reflect our culture and what we think is important. The values are rooted throughout the business and support our colleagues to bring their best selves to work. To be truly successful our values need to be ‘lived and breathed’ through the actions we take and how we operate as a business. Our values form a key part of our performance management process and evaluation. Our colleagues are measured, rewarded and held accountable both on what they deliver and how they deliver it.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
We want LV= to be a truly inclusive place where everybody feels comfortable being themselves and where individuals are recognised and respected. We’re committed to creating a positive culture right across the business – a culture that embraces, values and celebrates individual differences.
To support our vision, we have five colleague-led diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) networks sponsored by a member of our Executive team. These networks hold regular meetings with their members and each have their own agendas and objectives for the year.
Inclusion is one of our four core values. For us, being inclusive is about embracing all contributions, valuing individuality and allowing everyone to be their authentic self. To bring about real change, we believe focus is required on building inclusion, equity and equality, as well as diversity.

Our 1,200 colleagues work across our three UK offices in Bournemouth, Exeter and Hitchin.

Financial Times best employers UK 2025 & 2026
LV= has been included in the Financial Times Best Employers 2026 list for a second year.
This recognition is based on an independent survey of over 20,000 employees across the UK, looking at things like working conditions, pay, development opportunities and company image.
Disability Confident Leader
In 2025, we achieved Disability Confident Leader (Level 3) status as part of the UK government’s Disability Confident employer scheme. This demonstrates that we meet the government’s highest standards for inclusive employers.
Our operations are carbon negative
We calculated our operational carbon emissions and offset 110% of our total emissions, which has supported worthwhile projects.
