Role Overview
The Senior Proposal Manager will sit within The Creative Lab, a high performing specialist unit, focused on the creation and production of sales documents across Compass UK&I. The team work nationally, managing high value bids, proposals and presentations across multiple sectors. The role of Senior Proposal Manager is aligned to Chartwells, in line with the objectives of the Sector Growth Director.
Your Role – Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage in all aspects of bid creation, management and submission for Big Bet and Tier 1 opportunities (£1-£3m+)
- Manage the creation of proposals and presentations. This includes; bid writing bespoke technical content, project management of the entire bid lifecycle, supporting the development of win strategies, and persuasive delivery structures, creating the bid brand guidelines and managing external suppliers and consultants.
- Be responsible for ensuring Chartwells follows the bid process and ensure all Big Bet/Tier 1 opportunities meet all stages including kick off meetings and full reviews
- Support Sales and Retention Lead in identifying win strategies, solution design, and management of tender clarification logs and bid preparation
- Support kick off workshops for entire bid team ensuring win themes are captured, competitor and SWOT analysis. Ensure the winning strategy and win themes are articulated effectively throughout the bid response.
- Manage storyboard sessions with SMEs, including for the wider sector content projects
- Support sector bid writers in creating well written, winning responses, imparting specialist sector knowledge into the responses
- Support the design process using Adobe Creative Suite to create high impact bids, proposals and presentations.
- Brief Bid Designers collaborating with conceptual development, artworking and printing
- Conduct post-pitch debriefs with Bid Leaders to collate any new content submitted within the bid and feedback to the bid content team.
- Continue to drive The Creative Lab and Sector as a centre of expertise in bid strategy best practice – such as red thread thinking, bid brand guidelines, win strategy, storyboarding and value propositions.
- Pink and red review Tier 1 and Tier 2 opportunities in conjunction with the Bid Team Manager, to ensure quality control across all Sector bids. Specifically focused on personalisation to the client and clear demonstration of WITY throughout
- Train team members as and when appropriate on improving bids – in conjunction with the Bid Team Manager and Growth Director
Essential Skills & Experience
- A recognised bid expert who shares knowledge, advises others and inspires.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience using bid management methodology, with a deep understanding of the sales/bid cycle at a senior level.
- Creative strategic thinking and ability to look at different ways of doing things. Willing to develop, drive and implement new solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to coach, challenge and influence the most senior stakeholders; enthusiastic and creative leader with the ability to motivate and inspire others; confident, ambitious and energetic with a persuasive manner and ability to use initiative.
- Proven track record in managing and winning complex bids
- Proven track record of persuasive bid writing to create compelling sales documents.
- Creative strategic thinking and ability to look at different ways of doing things. Willing to develop, drive and implement new solutions.
- Recognised bid expert who shares knowledge and advises others.
