The service you will work in….

Harrow Mental Health Accommodation for Adults is an accommodation-based service for those presenting ensuring mental health needs from the ages of 18 years to 64 years old.

The service is set out to work with individuals for up to 2 years. Team members work between 8am – 8pm Monday to Friday, 9.46 – 6pm Weekends and Bank holidays on a 4 week rolling rota. Service users are supported, empowered and motivated to make positive changes for themselves and the community in which they live and work.  

A day in this role looks like….

As a Recovery Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health and Complex Needs service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • Empower a caseload of Service users to manage their health and wellbeing, maintain their independence, identify their strengths, and achieve their goals and aspirations, under the direction of the Team Manager.
  • Clearly articulate the aims and objectives of the organisation, pathway and service model to people using the service so they can fully participate in activities and co-produce their support.
  • Empower service users to engage effectively with their support, liaisons with professionals within the community such as community mental health teams, social work teams, housing providers, health professionals, Job Centre Plus etc.
  • Flexibly work as part of a team to ensure service delivery and contractual obligations are met.
  • Develop co-produced group activities, participate in peer support networks, and utilize other community-based approaches to empower service users to achieve their goals and aspirations and to encourage the service users to access identified opportunities.
  • Actively monitor the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the service and its users ensuring all concerns are followed up promptly and in line with procedures.
  • Participate in core work of the service, supporting colleagues, carrying out tasks allocated by the team manager and using own initiative to identify and deal with additional tasks as they arise.
  • Ensure administrative work is completed in good time; that records are detailed, concise, accurate and that confidentiality is appropriately maintained.

  • Previous knowledge working in supported housing.
  • Willingness to work shifts of 8 am – 16:18, 9 am – 17:18 and 11:46 – 20:00, weekends and Bank Holidays from 9:46 – 18:00.
  • Knowledge of key working and holding a caseload.
  • Willingness to work with those presenting with challenging behaviour.
  • The capacity to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Ability to motivate Service users to make positive changes in their lives.
  • Ability to recognise and record safeguarding concerns.
  • Respecting service users’ chosen lifestyles.
  • Understanding those presenting with mental health needs.
  • Flexible and adaptable to deal with unpredictable situations.
  • Being resilient, organised and attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills including MS office packages.
