Role responsibilities

The Procurement Officer will support the Procurement team and the wider Transport for Wales (TfW) team in delivering an efficient and effective procurement and contracting service, which meets the needs and objectives of TfW.

  • Provide advice and expertise across the company and to relevant stakeholders on appropriate routes to market and supplier engagement requirements, ensuring that all procurement is in line with the Sustainable Procurement and Supply Chain Policy, process, procedure, and legislation.
  • Support the day-to-day management and delivery of a wide range of procurement and commercial activities, policies, processes, and systems, keeping all stakeholders involved and informed of progress and tasks, keeping accurate records and ensuring correct processes and delegations are adhered to, ensuring TfW can achieve its business requirements and project outcomes.
  • Undertake all procurement activities and requirements in line with TfW process, procedure, policy and relevant WG policy and procurement ensuring that Transport for Wales remains compliant with relevant changes and best practice including sustainable procurement opportunities and considerations to ensure that TfW and Welsh Government policy objectives are achieved.
  • Complete all required procurement documentation accurately and regularly monitor and maintain records and registers including those relating to change control and justification for commercial departures from the compliant process, to provide a clear and accurate audit trail of all activities.

Who we’re looking for

  • Experience of working in a procurement and/or commercial role or function.
  • Experience of supporting and facilitating a procurement lifecycle.
  • Ability to quickly understand the commercial and procurement requirements of different parts of the business, identifying and mitigating project risks and issues, and effectively support the teams to deliver their objectives.
  • Previous experience of building and managing relationships and of working collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver a range of business outcomes, on a high-volume basis.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
