We are delighted to offer the following new opportunity as a Principal Planning Policy Officerto join us in shaping the future of a thriving county with so much to offer.

As a Principal Planning Policy Officer, you will have a lead role in the production, monitoring, and review of planning policy for Wiltshire. In this position, you will support the Strategic Planning Managers in crafting the planning strategies and policies required to meet the vision and objectives in the development plan. The role provides the opportunity to progress your professional career by working on the most complex and significant strategic planning policy matters, including the development of the Council’s new plan under the new planning system. You will also progress initiatives to transform the service to be one of the country’s leading Local Planning Authorities.

Skills, Knowledge & experience required

  • Extensive experience in handling strategic planning policy matters
  • Experience managing policies at a senior level
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a political context and at the management level
  • Fully RTPI-accredited postgraduate degree
  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of the current and evolving UK planning system
  • Project management experience as a project lead
  • Experience managing junior planners
