Pricing Development Manager – Halifax, United Kingdom

Salary: Up to £80,000 (Dependent on Experience)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Pricing leadership team as a Pricing Development Manager, focussing on utilising your analytical skills in the ongoing development of pricing sophistication within Personal Lines. We’re looking for a candidate who has extensive relevant experience and is keen is keen to provide subject matter expertise and leadership across the pricing team.

What will I be doing?

  • Leading the development of enhanced pricing capabilities through data enrichment, machine learning, automated monitoring, and data storytelling
  • Supporting pricing leaders and the wider business to achieve objectives, including improving risk selection, loss ratio, and growth
  • Managing and developing analysts and senior analysts, modelling company values, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and agility
  • Pushing boundaries by building a pipeline of innovative pricing solutions, leveraging data science and advanced modelling, and driving strategic changes in pricing and data-driven decision-making
  • Exploiting opportunities to source internal and external datasets, particularly broker-specific assets, to enhance pricing models and minimize adverse risk selection
  • Serving as a pricing subject matter expert, representing Pricing in key forums, and providing clear technical support to senior stakeholders, explaining complex information to non-technical audiences
  • Developing and maintaining pricing, data science, and analysis tools, driving advancements in sandbox environments
  • Automating, streamlining, and documenting pricing and modelling processes to ensure efficiency and strong governance

You should apply if you have…

  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail & accuracy
  • Expert understanding of predictive modelling and machine learning techniques applicable to the technical rating of motor and home products
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills and intellectually curious, with the ability to solve problems
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivation, with an ability to lead, manage and develop individuals and teams, remaining efficient under pressure
  • An ability to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders, and adapt to the changing needs of the business in a competitive market
  • Project management skills would be a distinct advantage
  • Minimum 2:1 bachelors’ degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate numerical subject, or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continued learning to keep apace of advancements in analytical techniques, data science, AI and supporting technologies
  • Experience analysing data using Actuarial or analytical techniques and/or an understanding of General insurance underwriting principles
