This post offers the right candidate the opportunity to become a dynamic and innovative teacher who is involved in the design and delivery of undergraduate medical education teaching programmes, for our Imperial College and City, St Georges medical students. As a key member of the medical teaching team you will be expected to work in conjunction with the local CTF forums to maintain an excellent student experience, create a library of teaching materials, contribute to the assessment and feedback of students’ abilities including the delivery of clinical skills and simulation.

Main duties of the job

The appointed CTFs will be responsible for the timetabling, design, delivery, assessment and evaluation for teaching in a range of activities such as tutorials, bedside teaching, clinical skills, grand round facilitation and teaching clinics with a specialist focus in emergency medicine and simulation.

You will be responsible for organising and co-ordinating formative assessments, mock OSCE’s and pre foundation preparedness.

You will be actively involved in the process of quality assurance of teaching and show initiative in identifying new and innovative ways of teaching

You will be a key point of contact for other medical staff who wish to be involved in medical education.

Person specification

Teaching Experience

Essential criteria
  • Completed a Teach the Teachers Course
  • Designed and delivered a teaching programme for medical students
Desirable criteria
  • Completed or studying a PG Certificate in Teaching
  • Experience of high fidelity simulation training

NHS Experience

Essential criteria
  • At least two years experience of working within the NHS and/or completion of the Foundation Programme in the UK or equivalent is essential
