We’re currently recruiting an ambitious Sous Chef to join Belhaven Hill School. As a Head Chef, you will be responsible for creating an outstanding culinary experience. Shift Pattern: 40 hours per week, 7:30-15:00/15:30  Week 1: Monday-Friday + Sunday evening 

                                                                                       Week 2: Monday-Thursday  

This role can be Term-time or 52 weeks per year

Rate of Pay: £30,160 per annum

Location: EH42 1NN

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing delicious, high-quality food that delights our clients and customers
  • Oversee the daily preparation and service of breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 100 pupils
  • Supervise and training the team, including 3 KPs, 2 bakers, and a chef
  • Creating a positive kitchen environment where your team feel welcomed and supported
  • Plan and execute balanced, nutritious, and diverse menus, taking into account the dietary needs of the pupils
  • Lead the catering for summer events, open days, and other special occasions, ensuring that high-quality drinks and canapés are prepared and served to guests
  • Ordering food, looking after stock control and controlling food waste
  • Overseeing kitchen cleaning responsibilities to maintain hygiene standards
  • Managing budgets and successfully meeting financial targets
  • Complying with Food Handling & Hygiene standards
  • Complying with Health & Safety regulations

Our ideal Head Chef will:

  • Hold a City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent
