At Diversity jobs group we pride ourselves on being an inclusive to all job board.
We fundamentally believe that in this day and age it is imperative to have easy access to a diverse array of jobs from inclusive employers.
Our focus is to bring those candidates with the right skill set to the right employer no matter who they are or where they come from.
Diversity jobs group was created out of frustration of not having candidates from a diverse background the ability to search for jobs from employers that are committed to having a diverse workforce, without doubt the roles you see are from those companies that have made a commitment to having a fully transparent, diverse and inclusive strategy.
We also wanted to have some real focus and equality around all of the diversity strands, having every diversity stand associated within the overall diversity groups site plus having individual sites focusing solely on that inclusion.
The UK Government currently acknowledges six ‘equality strands where people are protected by law from discrimination (direct or indirect), harassment and victimisation. The current UK strands are:
- Sexual Orientation
The aim of Diversity Jobs Group was to not only provide a group of job boards that reflected the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, but also the recognised diversity strands and are pleased to be working with like-minded employers.
The protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010 are:
- gender reassignment
- marriage and civil partnership
- pregnancy and maternity
- religion or belief
- sexual orientation
Diversity Jobs Group only works with direct employers and all applications are made directly from our job boards straight to the employers careers sites. You will not find any recruitment agency roles or roles from any aggregators meaning every click to apply is straight to an employer with a fully transparent, diverse and inclusive strategy.
Meet the Team
My story and why Diversity & Inclusion matters to me…
I started my work life at 16 years old, working part time for a gang in my dad’s paving firm, whilst in the sixth form. Quite often I was the only female on site, I would receive sexist comments like “why aren’t you making the tea?” or “you won’t be able to put as many bricks in your barrow so you will slow us down” honestly it just made me more determined than ever to succeed in life and not feel that being female was ever going to stand in my way.
Fast forward a number of years, I’m now a very proud mum to 3 children AND a Managing Director.
Being a mum and working full time has been a complete juggling act. Trying to balance a career and my own development with the challenges of being a mum has been difficult. I can’t say that I always got the mix right, world book day being missed or that board report not delivered on time!
In a previous company a senior member of staff once said to me “Nicky, you won’t be able to become an Operator because you’re a single mum and you need to be back at home every night and this role requires you to travel”. Who was this man to tell me that I couldn’t do this role because of my personal circumstances!
My eldest two children from my previous relationship are boys of colour. We have experienced racism with them already at Primary school. The boys really struggled with this as they don’t see themselves to be any different and why should they! These boys will have the same chance in life as everybody else and I will make sure of that.
This is the driving force for me and why I wanted to join Diversity Jobs Group, I want to make a difference and promote Diversity and Inclusion, working with companies that not only talk about it but do something about it.
