HSE Standards – Comply with policies

  • Complete daily opening & closing checklists
  • Conduct daily pre-service briefing with staff using toolbox talk
  • Ensure temperature probe is calibrated
  • Comply with HSE Audit requirements
  • Complete safety walk, hazard spotting & risk assessments


Operational standards – Efficient & safe delivery of food

  • Complete daily MPRO5 Audit
  • Order all items via Food Buy On-Line comply with central menus, suppliers and manage stock
  • Train staff in new concepts and promote offers through engaging sessions & child interaction
  • Attend school functions (hospitality/parents evening) and engagement in value added activity
  • Supervise & control production to achieve standards for safety, quality & diets



Nutritional & culinary standards – Comply with food and allergen standards

  • Manage compliance to the School Food Strategies
  • Use recipes & visuals to train staff
  • Communicate with teaching staff that assist with meal times
  • Attend SNAG or similar
  • Confidently explain why certain recipes are on the menus



Supporting the team – Engage a capable team to deliver the service

  • Ensure adequately trained staff are in place within budget & volume forecasts
  • Complete all required mandatory training for self and team
  • Manage sickness, return to work, health & wellbeing
  • Ensure attendance is correctly recorded & people are paid for correct hours
  • Coach & develop the team to perform well in their role


Manage income & control costs

  • Print daily sales report from the till system, enter income & expenditure
  • Complete a 3-way match (EDI) through Food Buy on Line clearing queries & credits
  • Complete the stock take on paper, enter onto NEXUS & reconcile
  • Complete PED credit card process (if applicable) & cash reconciliation
           Complete profit protection self-assessment


Client relationships – Sales opportunities & customer service improvements

  • Diarise weekly meetings with the client to enhance contract performance
  • Resolve issues raised by the client quickly or escalate as appropriate
  • Capture and share good news stories at the unit through company communications
  • Promote and display the correct signage front & back of house
  • Promote theme days with the school to enable pupils to experiment with new tastes, flavours & cultures creating positive food experiences
