Overview
- Develop and implement SHEQ policies and procedures in compliance with UK health and safety regulations and standards where required
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks in the workplace
- Collaborate with management and employees to establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment
- Provide training and support to employees on SHEQ matters, including safe work practices and emergency procedures
- Investigate incidents and accidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
- Monitor and report on SHEQ performance metrics to senior management.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and external auditors to ensure compliance with legal requirements
- Deliver and maintain a SHEQ change programme to embed and develop a positive culture across the division
- Complete Divisional audit programmes, depot/office/site visits, and output reporting
- Engage in a long-term strategy to identify suitable systems for managing Health & Safety and Transport
- Review risk events and identify potential recurring issues across Divisional structures, while also investigating and analysing root causes of high-risk events.
- Manage the certification process for ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and ISO50001 standards
- Engage with the Group Health, Safety and Sustainability teams, aligning initiatives with the overall sustainability strategy
- Actively participate in risk sub-committees, including those related to compliance, transport, and procurement
- Possess a recognised Health and Safety qualification and membership of the relevant professional body. NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) Level 6 in Occupational Safety and Health
- Proven and demonstrable experience in an operational SHEQ role, preferably in a construction, rental or product supply environments
- Strong knowledge of UK & Ireland health, safety & environmental regulations and standards
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable ISO standards
- Exhibit knowledge in transport regulation and requirements for Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and Light Goods Vehicles (LGVs)
- Display experience in leading incident investigations
- Display the ability to translate Risk Management theory into practical application
- Demonstrate experience in managing multiple work streams simultaneously, with a proactive approach to transformational leadership
- Exhibit the ability to effectively lead and influence Divisional Management teams through outstanding communication skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven leadership abilities and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Full UK Driving Licence
- This is a UK & Ireland role, which requires travel to varying locations to carry out the role
