Senior Principal Designer
Our Opportunity
- Managing design safety, coordinating design risks and managing the design team to ensure compliance with
relevant legislation and codes of practice are met. - Blending technical requirements with leadership skills to influence the design, contribute to the design and be an essential part of the project team.
- Holding relevant technical qualifications along with a sound understanding of safety in construction and the built environment.
- Supporting clients in the collation of pre-construction information and providing H&S advice as well as supporting and challenging the design team in designing out risks.
- Taking the lead in reporting to the client actions taken during the design stage and advising on the best solutions.
- Engaging with the contractor to coordinate design information and manage any change to the design as the project progresses.
- Reporting any matters that fall under the mandatory occurrence reporting and to be the liaison with Building Control Authorities.
About You
Our ideal Senior Principal Designer must have:
- Minimum level L5, or working towards / obtained the following – Design / Construction Degree, NEBOSH
Diploma, NCRQ Diploma, NVQ L5 - Significant and relevant construction experience
- Experience in delivering construction projects
- Sector specific knowledge within 3 or more sectors – such as aviation, rail, education, healthcare, commercial, automotive, defence.
- Sound knowledge of construction design, building control requirements, construction techniques and materials, fire safety in construction, temporary works, asbestos, demolition, process engineering, modular construction, scaffolding, working at height, lifting, and CDM15 Schedule 3 item
- Chartered or working towards Chartership
