What is the job role?

Exciting Opportunity to Lead and Deliver a Social Work Academy (SWA) Offer to Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs)

In Coventry we have created 2 temporary posts, a Team Manager post and a Senior Practitioner post for 12 months, that will deliver a mirror offer of the Social Work Academy to Newly Qualified Social Workers who have recently qualified through the Frontline route, supporting this cohort for the duration of their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) whilst embedded in an operational help and protection team.

The Senior Practitioner will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of the bespoke SWA offer. The post holder will work collaboratively with SWA Team Managers and Senior  Practitioners to deliver the learning and development package to this cohort, whilst working with help and protection team managers to support the practice development for this cohort of NQSWs. This will include offering high support, high challenge and setting expectations in practice standards whilst contributing to the completion of ASYE requirements alongside delivering the comprehensive SWA offer across the year.

Successful candidates will be required for a late August start.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced qualified social worker to work in our Social Work Academy team as a Senior Practitioner.

This is a new post based within our Social Work Academy team due to further investment across Children’s Services and within our Academy. With this investment we are investing in our future, investing in talent and a temporary expansion of the Academy offer. 

The successful candidate will be expected to possess significant post-qualifying experience and will assist the Team Manager in the development, management and supervision of a team of social workers and Child and Family workers, alongside operational team managers in help and protection.

You will make the most of your social work and specialist experience by supporting a team of Social workers and taking a lead in the development of their practice

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

It is essential that you bring an experience of working with “Children & Families”, holding complex cases such as CP, CIN, LAC and cases through Care Proceedings and the PLO, provided support and supervision of less experienced staff, and hold a relevant Social Work Qualification. 

This is an exciting opportunity to have a “Key Role” in combining direct practice alongside service and professional development.

You will need to be passionate about LEADERSHIP and be a good role model whilst working with Children, Young People and their families.
