Overview

Jewish Care is seeking a highly skilled Senior Finance Manager – Property & Projects to lead the financial management of our property portfolio and oversee property-related expenditures, including our ambitious new build and refurbishment projects. This is a critical role that will ensure financial integrity, effective budgeting, and compliance in managing Jewish Care’s significant property assets.

Jewish Care has 9 Care Homes, 4 Retirement Living schemes and 3 Community Centres.  These properties are mainly but not wholly on 3 campuses in North West and North London.  Together our properties have a book cost of £169m and a market value significantly in excess of this.  Property related expenditure amounts to c. £10m per annum and there is also a small investment property portfolio. 

This post is working 36.25 hours per week Monday to Friday.

You will be responsible for: 

Financial Control & Accounting:

  • Oversee the procure-to-pay process for all property and project suppliers.
  • Manage and control all property-related financial assets, liabilities, income, and expenditure.
  • Automate and improve accounting processes, focusing on efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and accounting for rental income, including from investment properties.

Management Reporting:

  • Produce timely and efficient monthly management and project reports for properties.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with senior management to ensure budget adherence.

Financial Reporting:

  • Maintain the integrity of the Group’s financial reporting and prepare reconciled fixed assets notes for statutory accounts.
  • Ensure property sales are accounted for according to UK GAAP.

Planning & Forecasting:

  • Lead financial planning for property projects, including detailed budgeting and cashflow management, and manage the production of monthly forecasts including projects progress, identifying and mitigating financial risks.

VAT & Compliance:

  • Ensure VAT compliance for project suppliers under Design and Build structures, working closely with external VAT advisers and submit the quarterly Capital Assets Survey to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
