Overview
Four full time positions within Highways Infrastructure and Fleet have arisen to support the Service Managers in in the provision of responsive and planned highway maintenance works and other highway functions for the effective and efficient delivery of the service.
The successful candidates will be expected to:
Assist the Highway Managers to deliver a high standard of service and demonstrate the ability to carry out all aspects of repairs and or replacement both in reactive works and planned schemes on the Highway.
Duties and responsibilities include:
To be able to work to precise levels, specification, and good workmanship in a number of construction related tasks. These may include drain laying, trench timbering, manhole construction, reinforced concrete, laying precast concrete products and coated materials.
To have or be willing to work towards gaining qualifications that will allow you to operate specialist vehicles and/or equipment. This may include, for example HGV Class 2, Lorry loader/HIAB, JCB, 360 excavators, bobcat, ride on roller, dumper, Gully tanker/cleansing, this list is not exhaustive.
Conduct appropriate vehicle checks, routine maintenance (e.g., oil and water) and cleaning. Ensure compliance with the requirements of Statute and regulations for this service area.
Undertake, as part of a team, the maintenance and construction of roads and footways and associated drainage.
The erection and removal of appropriate signs and barriers.
The preparation, application, compaction and removal of soils, rocks, coated and other materials.
Work on highways furniture and equipment e.g., erection, fixing and/or dismantling.
This work may involve a high level of intervention in inclement and adverse weather conditions.
A full current UK driving license is essential for this role.
Must be willing to undertake relevant training that is deemed necessary to meet the duties and responsibilities of the post.
