Salary:

Beat has been working in partnership with the public sector (NHS) for many years, offering a wide range of packages for commission by NHS trusts. Our services focusing on supporting parents and carers are currently the most popular. As one of two Public Sector Partnerships Officers (the other already in role) you will support the Public Sector Partnerships Manager in engaging new partners, managing the contracts we have with existing partners, and securing ongoing commitments.

There has been a huge expansion in this area of Beat’s work over the last year: from an income of c.£160k and partnerships with 8 NHS trusts in 2019/20 to 54 partnerships at present and a forecasted income of c.£2M this year.

A particular area of increase has been in NHS commissioning; NHS Trusts are looking for reliable partners with whom they can deliver on ambitious mental health targets, and Beat is a preferred partner. Over the years we have been working with the NHS, and in particular in our ability to respond with agility, creativity and efficacy to the Covid pandemic, Beat has built an excellent reputation for high quality service design and delivery.

Projected income from public sector contracts this year represents over 30% of Beat’s overall income budget. As such, this is an excellent opportunity for an diligent candidate to support the management of the relationships with some of Beat’s most valuable partners, helping to secure a crucial share of the income which will enable us to help more people than ever before.

The Public Sector Partnerships Officer will be managed by the Public Sector Partnerships Manager, and will work closely with colleagues in Beat’s Service Delivery and Finance teams. You will be closely supported by colleagues in the Partnerships Team and will be able to work collaboratively with and learn from experienced teammates specialising in Corporate, Major Donor and Trust and Statutory fundraising.

Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. We exist to end the pain and suffering and loss of life among people affected by eating disorders:

  • We help them to understand their illness, support them to get treatment and help them towards recovery.
  • We help families and carers know how best to support a loved one into, through and out of treatment.
  • And we train teachers, health professionals and other key individuals to spot when someone is showing the early signs of an eating disorder, how to talk to them and how to encourage them to seek and get treatment as quickly as possible.

We use our experience to campaign for better government policy and health service practice that addresses the challenges faced by people with eating disorders, always guided by the experience of our beneficiaries and the expertise of clinicians. We work both nationally and locally, focussing on three priority areas: early intervention, family empowerment and prevention & cure.
