Why Oviva?
To build a healthier future for all, our mission is to provide the most accessible and effective care to people living with weight-related conditions. Why? Because everyone deserves their healthiest self.
By blending behavioral change therapy with our unique technology, incredible team of passionate individuals, and innovative company culture, we are creating affordable and accessible app-based healthcare programs to tackle diet-related health conditions such as obesity and type 2 Diabetes. Our proven strategy has helped us become the award-winning and largest digital health provider, treating diet-related conditions in Europe. We operate within the healthcare systems to give people access to the medical care they need. We are rapidly expanding across Europe including the UK, Switzerland, Germany, and France. You will be joining an organization that has treated 400.000 people to date and is continuing to scale up.
The role:
Oviva has been commissioned to provide a specialist Tier 3 weight management service for people living with complex obesity and are looking for a psychological wellbeing practitioner (PWP) to grow our current psychology team. You will work alongside the psychology and dietetics teams. This is an exciting opportunity for a PWP with weight management experience and/or eating disorders experience to be involved in the delivery of a service incorporating a mixed clinical approach. The service offers a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team (MDT) approach, combining consultant-led care with specialist dietetics, clinical and health psychology, as well as leveraging technology to improve participant access and outcomes.
The psychology service provides psychological therapy to participants, to aid motivation and success towards their weight management goals. You will be using technology, such as our Oviva app and telephone coaching to provide care remotely and monitor / review patient’s progress in collaboration with the MDT. You will be using theoretical principles from CBT and ACT.
Whilst it is important to be able to work autonomously in a weight management setting, you will receive comprehensive training. You will also have access to clinical supervision and support from the Clinical Lead for Psychology or another psychologist in the team.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Delivering one to one patient weight management care remotely via phone or video calls and / or using the Oviva smartphone app. The remit of this role is primarily to support changes in eating and activity behaviours, rather than treat common mental health problems.
-
Assessing patients for psychological therapy as part of the weight management service; to independently select and employ appropriate initial assessment methods.
-
Creating individual formulations based on initial screening and assessment, providing therapeutic weight management and lifestyle change input for patients identified as suitable within the Tier 3 service, alongside dietetic support, drawing on your own clinical expertise within weight management/eating disorders, psychological theory, our existing care packages, current research, and relevant guidelines, e.g. NICE. (Initial screening involves assessing risk of Binge Eating Disorder which may then be discussed with MDT)
-
Working autonomously, being responsible for appropriately managing clinical risk when it arises during clinical practice, while having recourse to other professionals for guidance.
-
To maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records and abide by internal recording guidelines.
-
To maintain adequate CPD, receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with good practice guidelines and continue to meet BABCP registration requirements.
-
Maintaining confidentiality of information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act and ensuring that participant confidentiality is protected at all times.
-
Creating relevant internal or patient-facing content for the service, as required.
Key relationships:
This role forms a key part of our clinical delivery team, providing psychology support sessions to participants on our tier 3 weight management service.
Internally, you will have contact and liaise with our multidisciplinary team (MDT), including dietitians, nutritionists, psychologists/PWPs, service managers and clinical leads for Dietetics and Psychology, patient support coordinators, diabetes specialist nurses and the medical lead.
What are we looking for you to bring:
-
A qualified PWP with at least one year’s experience of working in an IAPT service.
-
A minimum of 1 year experience of weight management and / or bariatric experience within a mental health setting, or working with patients with long term health conditions who are also living with obesity.
-
Confident in using technology to record and review patient notes and willingness to learn how to effectively use Oviva’s technology to support patients.
-
Experience related to offering weight management support.
-
Excellent communicator, able to work well as a member of a team, communicating in a timely and effective manner.

Experience related to offering physical activity support.
Education/Qualifications: -
BABCP registration
