An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join Warwickshire Library Services. We are looking for someone with a strong customer focus, to lead on stock services and digital resources across Warwickshire Libraries.

As Principal Librarian Resources and Information, you will use your knowledge of library resources and library systems to improve the customer experience for Warwickshire residents. You will also provide leadership and management to Library Stock Services team.

Applicants will need to evidencepeople management skills, leadership qualities and able to ensure staff have the skills, motivation, and flexibility to respond to changes in library operations and service developments as required.
With responsibility for acquisitions, inter-library lending, stock management processes, finance and compliance, you will be required to work under pressure to meet tight fiscal deadlines. You will have excellent numerical skills, have experience in financial management and be able to present accurate data and meet performance targets

You will need to be informed about all aspects of stock and information as well as having the ability to provide excellent customer service. You will also have responsibility for developing, managing, and implementing consistent policies and strategies for the development and delivery of stock acquisitions and management of the Virtual Library Service and Enquiry Service. You will support the Head of Service and Delivery Leads in achieving our organisational vision and outcomes.

Key Skills & Experience Required

3 years relevant experience in libraries or similar environment
Knowledge and experience of stock and resource management
Experience of communicating clearly & effectively in person, in writing and giving presentations
Experience of answering enquiries using a range of reference sources/formats including online.
Experience of recruitment, selection, appraisal, induction, training and development of staff
Experience of policy and service development
Experience of working effectively with people internally/externally and at different levels.
Experience in use of ICT applications including word processing, spreadsheets and other ICT systems.
Ability to travel effectively around the County as required.
Ability to work flexibly.
