Job Purpose and Summary

Canon UK&I are looking for a People Development Business Partner, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Learning and Development professional, to join a great HR team and make a real impact to the employee experience. You will be promoting and supporting the development of an agile learning culture by working closely with business stakeholders across Canon UK&I to ensure the full breadth of the learning offer is understood and used effectively to drive employee performance and engagement.

  • Understand the full L&D offer at Canon and coach and support managers to make the most effective use of the portfolio in support of employee development and engagement.
  • Create relevant promotional and educational content for internal communications channels.
  • Collate and manage the Canon UK budget submission working with HR Business Partners to carry out effective Learning Needs Analysis.  Validate budget requests and review with People Development Manager, ensuring spend is monitored and the use of funds are optimised.
  • Project lead for L&D events. Agree project deliverables with People Development Manager. Create proposed agenda and engage suppliers to create timetable of events. Create collateral to communicate and promote the event. Define the communication plan. Work with stakeholders to deliver outcomes to defined deadlines. 
  • Delivery of generic behavioural skills training.  Design and deliver bespoke interventions as required e.g. MBTI workshop. Continuous review and improvement of course content and delivery.
  • Act as a coach and consultant to managers and leaders supporting in the identification of learning needs and the optimal solution as appropriate. Consult with leadership teams on the organisational development implications of business projects. Develop recommendations and interventions as appropriate.
  • Find creative and cost-effective methods to meet valid learning needs and make recommendations to People Development Manager.
  • Manage the internal mentoring scheme. Review applications and make suitable matches. Check in with mentor “pairs” after click meeting and at 6 months. Obtain feedback and create meta evaluation.
  • Responsible for the local leadership and management curricular and facilitation of events where appropriate.
  • Programme manage Talent development activity to build a solid talent pipeline and extend the reach to include strategies to engage Rising Stars.

What we ask

Essential:

  • Good learning design experience with knowledge of adult learning theory and a concern for end-user experience (alternate delivery channels e.g. digital and mobile desirable)
  • Skilled facilitator with a proven track record in delivering successful blended learning interventions
  • Awareness of other HR disciplines e.g. resourcing, talent, performance management, diversity & inclusion and reward, and how they interplay with learning solutions,
  • Demonstrates the ability to adopt a consultancy approach to relationships and stakeholders (including within) to build trust, shape approaches to learning and increase engagement with People Development activity.
  • Experienced in playing a key role in designing and implementing learning and talent solutions that enhance employee skills, drive performance, and nurture a learning culture
  • Commercially astute and be able to apply business acumen
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Excellent planning skills.

Desirable:

  • Post graduate qualification in a related field or other evidence of commitment, expertise and discipline of learning and learning design
  • Accredited in Psychometric testing (MBTI or similar)
