Operations Manager – Grantham
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day management of all site activities, ensuring safe and efficient operation of multiple plants
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental permits, health & safety legislation, and company policies.
- Manage, develop, and motivate site staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
- Deliver operational targets relating to safety, productivity, efficiency, quality, and service.
- Ensure effective scheduling, planning, and resource utilisation to meet customer requirements.
- Oversee site maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure operational resilience.
- Monitor and manage budgets, costs, and KPIs, reporting regularly to senior management.
- Liaise with customers, regulators, contractors, and suppliers to maintain positive relationships and resolve issues effectively.
- Deliver KPI driven continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on operational efficiency, safety performance, and sustainability.
- Support strategic projects and business development activities as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience in an operational management role within a regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge of environmental compliance and site permit requirements.
- Demonstrable leadership and people management skills, with ability to motivate diverse teams.
- Ability to coach and develop the next generation of leaders within the team
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Financial awareness with experience managing site budgets.
- Total commitment to health & safety within the workplace
- Proven experience of continuous improvement projects delivering P&L benefits
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent health & safety qualification.
- WAMITAB / COTC (Certificate of Technical Competence) for Waste Management.
- Previous experience in the waste management or environmental services sector.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to engage regulators and customers effectively.
- Degree in engineering, environmental science, operations management, or related field.
