Salary: £26,000 FTE

Base: Raglan House, Raglan Road, Smethwick, West Midlands. B66 3ND

25 service users across the services

Responsible to: Regional lead OT (Band 7) and Hospital Manager for line management.

Hours: 25 hours per week

Overview of site/Ward:

Raglan House is a 25 bed high dependency inpatient rehabilitation hospital for women. The service is designed to provide an environment that promotes mental health recovery by focusing on space, personal privacy and dignity. The occupational therapy department has qualified OTs, as well as Therapy Coordinators. Our environment is rehabilitation-focused and includes a gym, sensory room, IT café, beauty salon and other therapeutic spaces. 

The service focuses on continuing practicing life skills and coping strategies. We concentrate on community based activities, the use of public transport, education and vocational therapy, job placements, work experience and development of hobbies and interests.

The team consists of doctors, psychologist, psychology assistants, occupational therapists, as well as 24/7 support from the nursing team (nursing and support workers). This means that we are able to meet the changing needs of our residents as they progress through their care pathway, while ensuring their safety is maintained and their independence supported

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass OT assessments, treatment and management of individuals / interventions and support for individuals within the service. In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to individual’s diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly within the multidisciplinary team.

The Successful Candidate should be/have:

  • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) or eligible to apply soon.
  • RCOT Membership
  • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Passionate about student education

Requirements
The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
