About the role
Thrive on deadlines? Come and be our Media Officer.Ā
AsĀ ourĀ Media Officer,Ā you’llĀ be the primary point of contact for most of our daily media enquiries.Ā You’llĀ support the team inĀ disseminatingĀ news and media coverage about CCC via all key communications channels. Working within ourĀ highly regardedĀ PR and MediaĀ team, you will produce external-facing content forĀ media,Ā our news website, as well as various other platforms (e.g. blogs and social media). You willĀ be responsible forĀ developing updates and impact reports on news issues forĀ councillorsĀ and officers, and responding to requests from local, regional, national and trade media, as well as arranging interviews and media training for CCC spokespeople.Ā
About you
To do this jobĀ you’llĀ need experience of workingĀ in a busy press office environment, both in normal working hours and out of hours.Ā You’llĀ understand the workings of external media (print, broadcast, online and social)Ā and working to deadlines.Ā YouāllĀ have experience of usingĀ media andĀ web content management systems,Ā social media platforms, as well as using image editing software.Ā YouāllĀ need the ability toĀ spotĀ a good story,Ā conveyĀ aĀ subject matter concisely andĀ in a compelling wayĀ to a wide range of audiences. This will include,Ā strong writing skills, and the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively in person.Ā YouāllĀ be able toĀ establishĀ priorities and manage multiple activities to meet organisational priorities.Ā
