NT Food and Drink, a partnership formed between Levy UK & I (part of the Compass Group), KERB Events and the National Theatre, enhances the experience of visitors to the NT. Through delivery of great hospitality across the building and with a wide range of venues from Espresso bars, Cafés, pubs and restaurants, whether theatre-going or not, we’re able to meet the needs of our guests and to add to their experience of visiting this iconic venue.




Reporting to the Managing Director of National Theatre Food & Drink (NT F&D), the role of Head of Marketing, Food & Drink will work closely with the core F&D team, restaurant partners and as well as the internal NT marketing and brand teams to deliver a broad range of marketing campaigns. This is a full 360 role that requires a dynamic and results-driven person to bring to life and help elevate the public face of the Food and Drink proposition ensuring that NT South Bank becomes one of the leading food destinations in London.

This role requires initiative, vision, insight, the ability to have great ideas and to execute them – as well as previous experience in marketing management and the desire to be part of a dynamic business to support its ongoing growth.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in and can comfortably plan, develop, and deliver campaigns across the full marketing mix (both on and offline), spanning digital, social, direct, PR, press, print, outdoor, partnerships and events with a food and drink background.


FOOD & DRINK STRATEGY: With the ambition of positioning the National Theatre South Bank as a world class food and drink destination, work with key internal and external stakeholders to develop, plan and deliver the overarching marketing & brand strategy for all F&D outlets.

MARKETING CAMPAIGN PLANNING: Lead the development and implementation of F&D centred marketing strategies to drive customer growth, retention, and loyalty, ensuring that these plans are delivered to the highest standard across owned, earned, and paid channels. This could include, but is not limited to: 

  • Contributing to the overall marketing planning across the different partners through collaboration with the wider marketing, events, and PR teams.
  • Providing ambitious creative briefs to designers and agencies to deliver concepts, content or assets for marketing campaigns.
  • Coordination, direction and delivery of food & drink photo and video shoots
  • Leading content coordination and delivery for the digital screens network including menus, branding, POS and promotions.


MANAGEMENT & STAKEHOLDER ENAGAGEMENT: As Marketing Lead for all F&D activity across the building ensure that key stakeholders – NT Marketing teams, Levy, KERB, Forza Wine, Lasdun – are kept abreast of, and engaged in supporting, key activity in a timely fashion. 

  • Work with wider NT Marketing and Membership teams to develop marketing, content and communication plans to ensure that activity resonates with NT theatregoers and is amplified across NT channels.
  • Work with Restaurant Partners to amplify their presence within the NT and adopt the brand development objectives of both to align with the in-house F&D strategy
  • Work with KERB to ensure that seasonal activations are in keeping with partnership objectives relating to visual, tonal & cultural ambitions across all relevant spaces
  • Work with PR agency on an ad-hoc basis within budgets to project further key areas of new activity that add to the overall aim to create a lauded food & drink destination

BUDGETS, FINANCIAL ANALYSIS & SECTOR REPORTING: Monitor and report on budget spend monthly, managing costs effectively. 

  • Financial Reporting: Track and measure marketing efforts monthly, providing reports, insights, and recommendations on commercial opportunities.
  • F&D Sector Analysis: Keep abreast of, and regularly report on, key sector trends and performance.
  • Performance Marketing: Regularly review campaign effectiveness across paid, owned and earned channels.
  • Budgeting: Manage the day-to-day running of the marketing budget ensuring that it remains within agreed parameters. 



  • Excellent grasp and experience of marketing within the food & drink industry, working with several stakeholders all operating at a high-level, along with liaising with clients or 3rd parties.
  • Effectively use marketing tools and programmes including Mailchimp, Planable, Google Business & more.
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and digital technologies, along with experience in creating/coordinating content for websites, social media, and POS
  • Basic design skills, using templates via Canva / Figma / Photoshop Copywriting
  • Excellent project management with the ability to manage a project from conception to completion with varying levels of direct/in-direct support, as well as simultaneously managing multiple projects at once.
  • Able to fully utilise all relevant marketing channels to effectively engage, promote and drive growth across the NT F&D operation as directed.
  • Ability to provide marketing expertise & insight during departmental meetings.
  • Ability to use marketing tools to effectively draw out data i.e.. Facebook ads, Google Business, Mailchimp and more
  • Produce reports on marketing activity, initiatives, and performance, along with conducting market research and customer insights to enhance the in-house offering.
  • Adapt working style and approach to tailor to the various partnership stakeholders, all experiencing a different angle of relevant challenge.
  • Has a creative flair with an eye for detail and quality, with ambitions to learn, develop and grow with a business on the up, while adapting to changing market conditions and trends,
  • Exceptional time-management and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and flexibly as well as part of a team.
  • Strong Commercial awareness and business acumen
