Job Title:Floating Support Worker (FTC: PT) (Female Only) – Domestic Abuse

About the Service/Department
The Ealing Domestic Abuse Floating Support Service is funded to provide high quality floating support to 20+ adults experiencing standard or medium risk abuse or who have experienced domestic abuse. The service is for victims residing in the Ealing borough and we accept referrals from individuals, the police, social services and other partner agencies. Our service users are supported to build their self-esteem and live free from abuse. Support includes accessing other services, obtaining legal remedies, referrals and sign posting to other appropriate agencies, support with housing matter etc. The floating support worker works in partnership with local agencies such as the police, the housing department, court service, Victim Support and Social Services.

The service places strong emphasis on co-production, thus ensuring that the needs and strengths of service users are paramount in delivering and developing the service, including developing and maintaining access to other community services and activities.

About the role
To provide emotional and practical support to women and their children, living in the community who have or who may still be experiencing domestic abuse. To support access to the service and to enable and enhance each client’s quality of life by promoting/maintaining independent living for themselves and any dependants they may have.

Some other main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Ensure that administration is done in good time; that detailed, concise and accurate records are created contemporaneously, and that confidentiality is appropriately maintained
  • Carry out duties, in line with organisational policies and procedures
  • Participate in the core work of the service, providing support to colleagues, carrying out tasks allocated by the service manager and using initiative to identify and deal with additional tasks as they arise

About you

  • To clearly articulate the aims and objectives, pathway and service model to people using the service so they can fully participate in and co-produce their support
  • Empower service users to engage effectively in their liaisons with professionals within the community such as social work teams, housing providers, health professionals, JCP etc.
  • Work flexibly as part of a team to ensure service coverage and that contractual obligations are met
  • Develop co-produced group activities, peer support networks and other community-based approaches to empowering service users to achieve their goals and aspirations and to encourage service users to access these opportunities
  • Actively monitor the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the service and its users ensuring all concerns are followed up promptly and in line with procedures
  • Empower a caseload of clients with a range needs and their carers to manage their health and wellbeing, maintain their independence, identify their strengths and achieve their goals and aspirations, working in partnership with our subcontractors as required in order to achieve this, under the direction of the Team Leader
