Business Development Manager

Competitive package + OTE
As Business Development Manager, you will build a profitable and sustainable catering portfolio for Chartwells, establishing Chartwells nationally as a trusted partner in the education sector leading the development of winning bids and opportunities against agreed targets.
Our Business Development Managers are  responsible for leading the development of winning bids and opportunities, establishing, building and maintaining relationships with key contacts to increase their awareness of Chartwell’s capabilities and effect introductions to relevant Chartwells colleagues
As Business Development Manager will also be responsible for 
  • Managing the business development pipeline and bid process including bid identification, bid writing / development and bid submission process alongside the Bid Manager and Bid Finance Manager.
  • Identifying barriers to the achievement of our objectives in the State School market and managing them accordingly.
  • Utilising central marketing initiatives in line with the Sector Business Development Plan to increase Chartwell’s presence in the sector.
  • Working alongside the Creative Lab to develop tailored proposal documents and client communications.
  • Recording all client contacts and project opportunities using our CRM system. 
  • Keeping up to date with current issues in the sector and building solid networks.
  • Contributing to the development of a programme of webinars, articles and other opportunities for Chartwells to demonstrate thought leadership in the education market
  • Being a credible ambassador for Chartwells at internal and external events
  • Bringing creative and innovative ideas to how we undertake our BD activities
The successful Business Development Manager will have:
  • Minimum of 2 years business development experience selling or experience procuring services in a high-volume market
  • Personal credibility and ability to develop and nurture effective business relationships
  • Strong project management and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to produce high quality proposal and tender documents
  • Ability to drive a number of initiatives at any one time
  • Experience of working in high volume sales markets
  • Confident and professional with the ability to think on your feet
  • A hunger to stay up to date with education related matters
  • The ability to remain flexible and seek alternative options to problems
  • A good grasp of numbers and the ability to write documents in a professional style
  • Strong resilience
  • Must hold a full UK driving license
