Overview

Salary Range: £10.02 per hour

Brandon Trust support workers are at the heart of our unique approach to supporting people with a learning disability, autism or both to live in the way they choose. We operate several diverse social enterprises in Bristol and South Gloucestershire including cafes, potteries, farm and gardening projects, woodwork and crafts projects and a medical packaging enterprise.

As a Bank Support Worker you’ll work alongside our permanent teams; supporting adults with a learning disability to gain valuable work and vocational skills. Our team of Bank Support Workers work with us on a casual basis; some are attracted by flexible working that enables a better work-life balance, for others it’s the desire to gain experience without committing to a permanent post. It’s a rewarding role where you’ll make a positive impact on people’s lives. We provide full training, including the nationally recognised Care Certificate.

Working flexibly across the enterprises you’ll develop skills and experiences across these diverse projects. Our Bank staff are essential to ensure consistency of services during periods of staff holidays, sickness and training. Generally you’ll be offered shifts a week or two in advance however at times we may contact you to see if you can work at very short notice; you’ll access the shifts that suit you.

Across our Enterprises, there are a range of working patterns from 8.30am – 5.30pm which may include some evening and weekend hours depending on the service.

Ideally, you’ll have some experience of working with people with learning disabilities and autism in a support, employment or educational role, however this is not essential as we provide full training. What is key is that you share Brandon’s values and understand the role of the social enterprises and what they offer the people who attend.

If you have experience in catering, cafe/bar work or in running a small business we would be particularly interested to hear from you.

You’re considerate, committed and respect people’s differences. Empathetic, you adapt your approach to individuals’ needs, have good communication skills and a positive, patient approach.

A full driving licence and access to a car would be ideal but is not essential.

Successful applicants for this role will require an enhanced DBS check.

Brandon reserves the right to close this job when sufficient applications have been received.

We are an Equal Opportunities employer and welcome applicants from all sections of the community.

Brandon exists to enable children, young people and adults with a learning disability, autism, or both, to live life in the way they choose. We provide high-quality, individualised support to around 1,600 people and have a staff team of over 2,000. Operating across southern England and London, support is provided by a widely dispersed workforce, including public spaces and the homes of the people we support.
