Working Hours09:00 – 17:30 Monday – Thursday, 09:00 – 17:00 Friday

Salary: £25,000 – £27,000 per annum

Hobdens Property Management Ltd are a Managing Agent based in Littlehampton, West Sussex. Formed in 1946, Hobdens have been located in the town ever since. We cover the whole of the Sussex area and surrounding counties, with focus on the coastal area between Portsmouth and Brighton.

We have experience in handling all shapes and sizes of leasehold development, from converted properties to purpose-built blocks and also specialise in the management of private estates, which often have a mix of leasehold and freehold property.

Job Description:

The Accounts Assistant is responsible for service charge accounting on behalf of clients. Key responsibilities and tasks include:

  • Processing of Service Charge budget detail and creating on account periodic charges.
  • Generating Service Charge and Ground Rent demands in accordance with the lease and processing year end surplus and deficits.
  • Raising levy & recharge invoices.
  • Dealing with the production and circulation of monthly/quarterly financial reports for clients and all associated enquiries.
  • Preparation of year end accounts pack inc Bank Reconciliation, Debtor & Creditor Reports, Income & Expenditure.
  • Full understanding of a Balance Sheet and Income and Expenditure.
  • Liaising with Clients and Accountants.
  • To generally assist with all other accounts related activities where necessary.
  • Maintaining the highest professional standards of conduct, and data/processing integrity at all times
  • Ability to communicate (written and oral) to all parties (internal and external).
  • Carry out ad hoc tasks when required.
  • To support other members of the team.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

Candidates for this position should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Possess AAT Level 3 or 4 (Essential).
  • Ideally possess knowledge of the residential property management sector, including related industry legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with a polite and friendly telephone manner.
  • Ideally 3 years’ experience within an accountancy/financial environment, which may include experience gained within a professional accounting practice.
  • Sound book-keeping knowledge and understanding of accounting principles.
  • Inquisitive with an ability to identify weaknesses and offer process improvements.
  • Excellent levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Client-focused, flexible, organized, self-motivated, and able to work to tight deadlines.
