Health Innovation South West is part of a national network of 15 organisations established by NHS England in 2013. We connect partners across the region – including the NHS, academia, local authorities, industry, the voluntary sector and communities – to turn promising ideas into real-world impact.
Our work focuses on improving health and care services, outcomes for patients, and supporting sustainable economic growth. We operate at the heart of the South West’s innovation ecosystem, helping to identify challenges, test solutions, and support their adoption at scale. Because of our rural and coastal geography, we face unique challenges when it comes to health and care, tailoring our approach to reflect the people and places we serve.

Supporting Our Staff
Health Innovation South West is based in Exeter, Devon, in an award-winning office space – an ideal setting for collaborating, convening and growing our internal and external relationships. Staff have the opportunity to work in a number of settings to suit their needs; from cosy private sofa booths to open-plan desk space, or even our new ‘quiet room’.Â
We actively support learning and development through generous individual development budgets, organisation-wide training, and peer-to-peer learning and coaching. We provide a generous benefits package, including employer pension contributions of up to 10% and an employee assistance programme.
Staff wellbeing is a priority for us and we’re continuously working with colleagues to provide initiatives that enhance our team’s health and happiness. We provide free fresh fruit in the office, along with showers and lockers, and there are a number of employee-led social activities.
