Founded in 2006 in a former takeaway in London by childhood friends Will Beckett and Huw Gott, Hawksmoor quickly earned a reputation for its dedication to quality and sustainability. Mission: We always try to do things the right way at Hawksmoor; we want a business we can be proud of and you can feel proud working for. This doesn’t only mean making sure the restaurants are good as possible, but that the animals the food comes from lived a decent life, that we do what we can to support charities we feel passionately about and that everyone who works with us enjoys what they do.

We’re also passionate about taking care of the world we live in, so we’re really pleased that we’re now a carbon neutral restaurant group. Whilst we’re incredibly proud of this achievement, this is just the start and we have begun to implement a detailed, science based plan to get us to Net Zero Carbon by 2030. Some of our biggest impact changes are already well underway.

EDI Programmes and Initiatives at Hawksmoor

A big part of our DNA is embracing the things that make each of us unique, and we understand the benefits that different experiences and perspectives can bring.  So we’ve been encouraging people to bring their whole selves to work since we were founded.  We demonstrate that in one of our values, Personality.  We encourage everyone of our team to ‘come as you are’ – its tough to leave a part of what you makes you individual at home, so we don’t expect you to do that.  Our front of house team are even invited to wear their own clothes at work, to let their personalities shine through.  Our organically grown, inclusive culture is one of the reasons we’ve consistently been voted one of the Best Companies to Work For by our own team.

To build on this great culture, we’re currently considering what more we can do to proactively drive Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and we’re just in the process of creating a strategy and a plan that outlines what we want to achieve and how we plan to do it.   Initially, we’ve partnered with Be The Riot who will be delivering training to our management teams that is focused on giving them practical tools on how we can make Hawksmoor even more inclusive.
